Each computer runs a unique combination of software to support the diverse research undertaken within the School.
Use your browser search function (often CTRL+F) to search for which machines are running a particular software product if you can’t find it.
Spatial Data Processing Computers – Please read and familiarise yourself with the additional requirements attached to the use of these computers, they are for the processing of very large spatial datasets. You must manage your data differently to get the benefit of using these machine
Spatial Computers – These are the computers that are configured to handle the majority of ArcGIS and ENVI processing requirements. Use these computers for processing and analysing your GIS and remote sensing work, creating maps, and designing geospatial workflows. These computers are also to be used for learning to use any of the software installed on the SDP computers.
Adobe Computers – Adobe changed their licencing practices on Nov 20th 2019. They no longer supply node-locked licences, which is what these machines had. Our licences expire at the end of Nov 2019.
Inkscape and GIMP are installed on these machines
Geology Computer – All the specialist Geology software is located on this computer.
Computers with this image in the list have had Zoom and Webex video conferencing software installed to facilitate COVID-SAFE technical support for SAL supported research. Please bring your wired headset or earphones that have a microphone if you are booked in for a meeting and remember that, even if there is no one else present in the lab, that all sound travels through to the post-grad room next door.
