SAL is licenced by a number of spatial data owners to hold a selection of spatial data sets for use in non-commercial teaching and research activities. Use of each dataset is governed by the terms dictated by the data owners and requires that potential users register their projects with SAL and complete a Data Access Agreement (DAA) before being granted access to spatial data from the repository.
The Geospatial Data Repository is a key part of the SAL Spatial Data Management Framework and aligns with the relevant Delegations and Research Data Management Policies. More information on the organisational policies that guide SAL procedures can be found on the Legal Environments page.
